Friday 22 February 2008 - Leap into the Potager
Leap into the Potager and delight in the company of strangers! This is your last opportunity for four years to join us in a slow afternoon. We've put together a cracking day for your enjoyment at The Gables in Woodend. You bring friends, your picnic utensils and rug/chair and we'll harvest salad ingredients from the Michael McCoy-designed potager, to be eaten with bullboars and accompaniments - all lovingly made in our region. An investment of $45 ($35 Slow Food members) buys you a delicious picnic, a glass of Captains Creek Organic wine or Henry of Harcourt cider - plus - cider tasting, willow weaving, guided tour of the garden, and a vinegar demo. A great way to spend a leap day! |
Saturday 23 February 2008 - Old Vines New Wines - Heathcote's New Generation
Driven by passion and family tradition the new generation of winemakers has had to adapt their techniques and skills in this very challenging climate. An invitation for you to join us at Cellar and Store to listen and learn from the new generation of winemakers - how they are dealing with the impact of climate on their harvests, the need to diversify but yet still deliver those traditional full bodied flavoured wines for which the region is renowned! The fresh, new approach to winemaking from these young guns will help keep their heritage and traditions sustainable in a very competitive industry. Taste and graze wine and food from the region and appreciate the connection between land and producer. Enjoy the BBQ lamb from Fargum Pastoral Company, veggies and herbs from Heritage Produce, goats cheese from organic producers Holy Goat and many more tasty morsels from the region for you share and feast upon. |
Sunday 2 March 2008 - Capering in Laharum
Focus with mouth wide open whilst we share a long slow lunch! We'll also taste test intense and concentrated flavours of warm-climate extra virgin olive oil, discover the wonders and delights of capers, flowers and berries and learn how to make aioli and tartare sauces. Our adventure will take you to the front door of Laharum Grove a NASAA accredited organic farm that has been established since 1943. Laharum specialises in Mediterranean inspired produce that reflects the nature and characteristics of the Grampians region. You bring friends, your picnic utensils, rug/chairs and wear comfy shoes for the farm tour and we'll give your palate a delicious going-over! |
